Based in Aberdeen, AK Well Services Limited offers drilling fluids management and related services to independent oil and gas firms all over the world. 

Our team has several decades of combined experience working for major oil & gas drilling and consultancy firms and contractors, including BP, MGA Consulting, Haliburton, and MI SWACO, among others. Our expertise is as varied as our experience is extensive: we have experts is every field related to fluids and cement management, including but not limited to contract procurement, fluids production and engineering, and general project management.

Our list of services offered includes: drilling & completion fluids management, cementing, rig-site supervision, fluids technology advising, environmental technical assistance, laboratory services, HSE and quality assurance, and personnel training.

The objective in our core business is to achieve the highest standard of independent technical support in all fluids related services areas in our onshore management service; and to focus on providing experienced, competency assessed drilling fluids engineers for the offshore service. We have also recently expanded our business line to include cementing services, marine surveyors, and laboratory technician services.”

Stewart Adams

Company Director

With over twenty years UK and international experience, Stewart takes a holistic approach to contract management. Within this approach he covers all aspects of drilling and completion fluid services coupled with associated solids control and waste management services, both onshore and offshore in the Oil and Gas industry. In recent years Stewart have been involved in senior service provider management, turnkey delivery management, and specific project management. Technical experience has been gained in a wide variety of fields inclusive but not exclusive too HPHT, deep water, ERD, short radius drilling, under balance drilling, CRI activities across Europe and Middle East North Africa regions.

Saadoudi Ahcene

North Africa Operations

Saadoudi is a drilling fluids and waste management professional, with over 35 years’ seniority in the industry, specialising in client relations and business development, with experience in supervisory and technical support positions, who has an in depth knowledge gained from field experience in drilling and completions fluids. He holds a degree in mathematics, and a diploma in geology and drilling fluid technology from the Algerian Petroleum Institute.

Katherine Ardila

Technical Support

A professional in the oilfield service industry, with particular experience in environmental permitting, waste management and quality management.

Katherine graduated with a BSc in mechanical engineering and started her career with Schlumberger Dowell and Schlumberger IPM in Venezuela. After receiving her MBA from Robert Gordon University she has been working as a consultant in Aberdeen. Clients include Maersk, Talisman Sinopec, Canadian Natural Resources (CNR) and Shell.

Experience preparing end of well EEMS (Environmental Emissions Monitoring System of the UK Oil and Gas Industry) reports, OSPAR Annual Substitution Chemicals Report relating to chemical use and discharge and Technical Justification Report, Management Regime for Offshore Cuttings Piles (OSPAR Recommendation), Annual Environmental Reports and Waste Management Strategy.

Christopher Hinton

Operations Director

Chris joined the team in August 2017 as AK Well Services Sales Executive. After spending 9 years with MI SWACO firstly as an offshore Drilling Fluids Engineer, then Project Engineer and finally Sales Manager. He has spent the majority of his career working within the Drilling Fluids discipline and has been given the opportunity with AK Well Services to grow the business not only in the UK but internationally as well. Chris has worked with many clients in the North Sea including small independents, well management companies and N.O.C.

Chris Leith

Laboratory Services

Chris started in the oil industry with BJ Sevices testing and optimizing cement slurries. He then joined Baroid in 1997 and Baker Hughes in 2008. For these last two companies he worked mainly as a Tender specialist testing and optimizing fluids to meet the required specifications for all the major companies. During this time, as well as in Aberdeen, he also conducted witness conformation testing in Dubai, Malaysia,Singapore, Indonesia, Norway and America at various times.

Marc Eigner

Sales Director

After graduating in electronics, he started as a Drilling Fluids Engineer in 1997 offshore Aberdeen and as a Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer in 2001 both offshore and onshore in Holland. Career including stints in Baku, Azerbaijan as Senior Account Manager and followed by Operations Manager.  In Dubai in the role of Supply Chain Manager for Middle East & North Africa. Managed multi-million inventories, supporting operations through significant contract negotiations in Saudi Arabia, India, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, Egypt and other significant operations, securing demand, supply, vendor audits and material QA/QC.

By the end of 2013 I was assigned as Operations Manager in remote desserts of Mauritania, facilitating civil work and construction of a mobile liquid mud and bulk plant aimed at full technical support of Deepwater drilling operations. Upon completion of the project in Mauritania, I was assigned to the shale drilling project in North America and provide technical support to all drilling operations and focus on process driven performance improvements.

Amro Heikal

Global Technology and Sustainability Leader

Amro Heikal is an accomplished industrial expert and scientist with over 27 years of experience working in the oil and gas industry. He has worked for industry giants such as Halliburton, Schlumberger, and Baker Hughes, and has worked extensively across the Middle East, the United Kingdom, all of North Africa, and Azerbaijan.

Throughout his career, Amro has focused on the development of new technologies aimed at reducing pollution and emissions, while also optimizing operations. His contributions have led to the winning of several industrial awards, including the prestigious Gold Stevie Award in 2020 and 2021. His work has been recognized and highlighted by the UK Science Council in an article published prior to COP26 in Glasgow.

As a member of the Scientific Research Advisory Board for “Egypt Al-Helm for Development and Growth,” Amro provides consulting expertise in the field of scientific research, responsible for providing guidance and advice on various research areas.

Amro is a highly accomplished researcher and writer, contributing to multiple newspapers and magazines across the Middle East, where he focuses on new technology adaptation. He is a Fellow (FRSC) and Chartered Chemist (CChem) of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), Fellow (FIScT) and Chartered Scientist (CSci) of the Institute of Science & Technology, a full member of Sigma Xi, The Scientific Research Honor Society, Fellow (FCMI) and Chartered Manager (CMgr) of the Chartered Management Institute, and Fellow (FEI) of the Institute of Energy.

Amro’s wealth of experience has led to several notable achievements, including his nomination as an industrial judge for global awards such as The Golden Bridge Award and the Software & Information Industry Association CODiE Awards. He has also chaired the Stevie Award in 2021 and served on the Technical Programme Committee of the Middle East Oil & Gas Show (MEOS) and the Middle East Geosciences Conference & Exhibition (GEO) 2023.

Lenin Diaz

Cementing Expert

Lenin is an O & G industry professional with over 27 years of experience in Drilling, Workover and rigless well cementing operations. He has held positions in cementing engineering, and project and operations management roles in the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa. Lenin’s engineering and operational management experience includes oil, gas (conventional, HPHT, LPHT, onshore and offshore) and geothermal wells. He has great knowledge in developing and introducing technical solutions in challenging markets, Like Mexico and Iraq. He has published several SPE papers, numerous technical documents and has written cementing and zonal isolation standards, practices and recommendation for Oil Majors and Services companies. Lenin is the founder of the Better Well Cementing for All website, providing support to individuals and companies around the globe.

Chris Greaves

Senior Global Cement Expert

Chris worked for a major operator for 33 years working in the UK, GoM, Colombia and Capsian Sea. Since 2015 he has worked as an independent consultant providing services to various operators and service companies. Chris joined AK Well Services team in 2021. He has a detailed knowledge of cementing and drilling operations and has a track record of delivering fit-for purpose cementing solutions that account for the impact of well design, drilling practices and fluids on the cementing operation and zonal isolation outcome. Specialised in cementing of ERD wells, wells with narrow PP-FG margins, wells with flow potential, detailed analysis & review. An innovative and creative professional dedicated to solving technical and supplier problems, continuous improvement and training using flexible work schedules and locations as required by the client.
